Our story
Jennifer Brackenbury and Melissa McHale, better known as Jenn & Mel, are the creators of Teacher Lunch and the hosts of the podcast Teacher Lunch Unwrapped. Based in northern New Jersey, the longtime friends first met on their very first day of work in 1996 and have been inseparable ever since.
Over the years, their lives have mirrored each other in uncanny ways. Both married steady, grounding partners, and each built a family of four children in the exact same order: boy, boy, girl, boy. That shared rhythm and deep friendship have become part of the magic behind their brand.
What began as two friends chatting to a camera on their lunch break has grown into a vibrant, loyal community drawn to their humor, honesty, and unmistakable chemistry. From lunch break conversations and cooking videos to Italian skits, restaurant reviews, and candid podcast conversations about life, Jenn & Mel create content that feels both entertaining and deeply familiar.

Jenn Brackenbury
Jennifer Brackenbury is a lifestyle content creator, 3rd grade teacher, and mother of four who finds the funny, tender, and completely relatable parts of everyday family life. A proud Italian-American and middle child, Jennifer grew up in a home where Sunday pasta and gravy were a standing tradition, and today, she carries that same love of food, family, and togetherness into her own home.
Jennifer’s content is rooted in the moments people recognize instantly: the family stories that get retold a hundred times, the chaos of raising kids, the comfort of tradition, and the little things that somehow become the whole story. Her humor is warm, expressive, and full of heart, with signature phrases like “My son, my son” becoming part of the language her audience loves her for.
Whether she’s sharing life as a teacher, a mom, a friend, or the person making sure everyone eats, Jennifer brings people in with honesty, nostalgia, and a laugh that feels familiar. When she’s not teaching or creating, she loves playing mahjong, spending time with family and friends, and keeping her Sunday traditions alive.
Melissa McHale
Melissa McHale is a lifestyle content creator, school librarian, lifelong educator, and mother of four with a natural gift for turning real life into a story worth telling. Raised in a close Italian-American community in New Jersey, Mel grew up next door to her grandparents, where food, family, and storytelling were part of everyday life, not just special occasions.
As the youngest of three, Mel learned early how to find her voice in a loud, loving family. With an Irish mother who fully embraced Italian culture after marriage and an Irish husband of her own, her world has always been a mix of tradition, personality, and perfectly timed humor. Add four kids, elderly parents, school life, and a lifetime of family dynamics, and Mel has no shortage of material.
Mel has worked in education since 1996 and now serves as a school librarian, bringing the same warmth and wit to her students that she brings to her content. In 2023, she was named Teacher of the Year, a reflection of the heart she puts into her school community. Whether she’s cooking, telling a story, or laughing through the chaos at home, Mel shows up with honesty, humor, and the kind of perspective that makes real life feel worth sharing.
